LARA
HECK
PROFESSIONAL VIOLINIST &
STRINGS EDUCATOR
Hi There!
I love teaching private lessons, but I also have the joy of serving as the Strings Director for the Encinitas Educational Foundation. And as an Artist in Residence at Carlsbad High School and CUSD Middle Schools, I get to work closely with talented young musicians both in private and group settings. From recitals to holiday concerts and community events, my students shine. Watching them grow as musicians and as people is the best part!
I’m Lara Heck, a violinist and educator passionate about using music to bring people together. My first string instrument was the violin at age 7, and for the last 14 years, I’ve had the joy of teaching violin, viola, and cello to students of all ages. To me, music is not only a beautiful art form but also a way to build community and inspire personal growth.
I have had the privilege of privately studying violin with renowned teachers such as Vera McCoy-Sulentic, Ed Kreitman, Andrea Altona, and Brandon Muresan. As a Suzuki-trained teacher, I encourage students to discover the joy of making music while fostering self-expression and confidence.
When I’m not teaching or performing, I enjoy traveling with my husband and spending time with our two cats. Our most memorable adventures include visiting temples in Japan, and hiking in the Swiss Alps!
I am also active in my local community, proudly serving on the board of Good Neighbor Thrift in Vista.
